What We Do

Legislative Services

The Legislative Services Division fulfills the requirements of the Community Charter and Local Government Act in relation to the control of corporate records and the responsibilities of the Corporate Officer.

The division provides direct services to City Council and the public by organizing and recording council meetings, public hearings and in-camera meetings and is directly responsible for the preparation of all minutes and by-laws, conducting elections and referendums, handling of freedom of information requests as well as the provision of advice on Provincial Legislation to other City Departments.
