Legislative Services fulfills the requirements of the Community Charter and Local Government Act in relation to the control of corporate records and the responsibilities of the Corporate Officer.
Legislative Services provides direct services to City Council and the public by organizing and recording council meetings, public hearings and closed Council meetings and is directly responsible for the preparation of all minutes and bylaws, conducting elections and referendums, handling of freedom of information requests as well as the provision of advice on Provincial Legislation to other City Departments.
If your correspondence is placed on a Regular Council Meeting agenda, please be advised that your letter (including your name and address) will form part of the public agenda and will be available in hard copy and on the City's website. Your letter will also be recorded in the Council Meeting minutes, which is a permanent public record.
