Each year local Firefighters and School District 73 team up to promote fire safety to children in grades 1 to 3. Students learn about smoke alarms, basic fire prevention by learning what to do in the event of a fire and developing a Home Escape Plan.
This years' theme is "Smoke Alarms: A Sound You Can Live With".

Spend time with your child to review the Fire Safety Starts With You activity booklet. Complete
the entry form including the Home Safety Checklist, for a chance to win a laptop computer.
Return the completed entry to your teacher or local fire hall by October 22, 2010.

Since 1986 Kamloops Fire Rescue offers local kids to be "Fire Chief For The Day". All grade 3, 4,
and 5 students are eligible to enter the draw. The lucky student spends the day with Kamloops Fire Rescue
experiencing a range of fire fighting duties and learning valuable fire safety lessons. Panago Pizza
continues to be a proud supporter of this program, and provides lunch to the winning class of "Fire Chief
For The Day".
