Payment Options

From Internet banking and claiming your home owner grant online to mailing post dated cheques, automated withdrawals, paying in person, or using our drop box after hours, there are several options to choose from.

Tax Installment Plan Services (TIPS)
If you are currently enrolled in the TIPS plan, complete and submit your home owner grant (if eligible) and pay the balance owing as shown in the "amount due box" at the bottom of your tax notice.

Remember: THERE IS NO JUNE WITHDRAWAL. A payment will need to be made on any balance owing before the due date. The plan will begin again July 15th for the next year’s taxes. Your new monthly amount is shown on your tax notice.

If you would like to sign up for TIPS, contact our Revenue Department. For more details visit:
» Tax Installment Plan Services.

At Most Financial Institutions
You can pay your property taxes at most financial institutions. Attend your bank in person with the original tax notice. Ensure you retain your receipt for proof of date paid. Some financial institutions do not accept Home Owner Grants, or do not forward them to the City. If this is the case, submit your application to City Hall or apply online.

Internet and Telephone Banking
Most financial institutions offer pay by phone or online banking services. Your bank account requires a set up to conduct online transactions. Contact your bank for details.

How to pay by Internet banking
From your bank website log into your bank account and go to “PAY BILLS”. Select “ADD A PAYEE”. In the search bar enter “Kamloops”. Click “search” to view the full list of available payees. The payee name for the City of Kamloops property taxes varies from bank to bank. Select the payee name that relates to the City of Kamloops property taxes. You will then be able to enter an account number.

  • For internet banking purposes, your payee account number is your 10 digit folio number without the dashes, which is located in the top right hand side of your notice.
  • Always verify that the account number set up for your City of Kamloops property tax payee matches the folio found on your current property tax notice before making a payment. If the account number for that payee does not match your folio, update the payee account number with the folio found on your property tax notice, as described above.
  • Folio numbers are attached to the property NOT the owner. Please ensure you are not paying for a property you no longer own and update your bank records accordingly.

By Mortgage Company
If you have arranged to have a mortgage company or financial institution pay your property taxes on your behalf, complete and submit your home owner grant application (if eligible) by the due date to avoid penalty.

Communicate with your mortgage company each year confirming your grant amount (if eligible) and the correct amount of property taxes paid to avoid payment errors and penalties.
