World Rivers Day

Sunday, September 24, 2017

Riverside Park
10:00 am-2:00 pm

A free family event, running from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. This year's activities will include arts and crafts, free face painting, a fishing pond, interactive booths, a bouncy castle for the kids, and games with the Customer Care and Patrol Team. There will also be local entertainment such as hoop dancing performances and a magic show. The shoreline cleanup will begin at 11:00 am, with the help of the ASK Wellness Society.

World Rivers Day is an opportunity to increase our awareness of water-related issues. The event promotes core values associated with sustainability, conservation, and river stewardship. World Rivers Day reminds us to appreciate the rivers that we use for drinking water, industry, agriculture, residential uses, and recreation. It also helps to develop further understanding of historical and cultural issues.

Interactive booths will be set up by local not-for-profit agencies and businesses to share information on how they support the environment and promote sustainability within our community. There will also be a sustainability water shed display.

Participants in this event include the following:

  • BIG Little Science Centre
