Energy Tips

For Transportation

  1. Walk or bike it
    Walk of cycle with your children to school, instead of driving.
  2. Share it
    Carpooling or taking transit to work whenever possible helps reduce traffic on the roads, air pollution, and how much you are paying for your transportation costs.
  3. Inflate it
    Ensure your vehicles tires are properly inflated to the specified tire pressure to extend the life of your tires and increase your gas mileage.
  4. Combine it
    When driving, do many short-distance errands at once so your engine stays warm.
  5. Shut it off
    Turn off your car rather than idling unnecessarily for periods longer than 10 seconds , except in traffic. Idling for more than 10 seconds uses more fuel than restarting your engine.
  6. Maintain it
    Schedule regular maintenance checks for your car. The better your car is maintained the more fuel efficient it will be.
  7. Fuel it
    Purchase vehicle fuel mixed with renewable ethanol.
  8. Slow it down
    Drive below 90km/hr to maximize your fuel efficiency.
  9. Act it
    While Driving, drive moderately and accelerate slowly. The faster you accelerate the faster you burn fuel.
  10. Choose it
    When buying a new vehicle consider that vehicles fuel efficiency. Most automobile manufacturers now offer hybrid, electric and alternative fuels vehicles that can help reduce your fuel consumption, save you money and reduce your impact on the environment.
