Climate Action Charter
In 2007 the City signed on to the BC Climate Action Charter, pledging to significantly cut greenhouse gas emissions. Currently, the City is working to become a carbon neutral government as part of its commitment to the Climate Action Charter. To date the City has completed an inventory of its annual green house gas emissions and is now working towards offsetting these emissions through various City initiatives.
Climate Action Revenue Incentive Program (CARIP)
Climate Action is a provincial priority and local governments are key partners in helping to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and create complete, compact, energy efficient communities.
The Climate Action Revenue Incentive Program (CARIP) is a conditional grant program that provides funding to Climate Action Charter signatories equivalent to one-hundred percent of the carbon taxes that they pay directly. This funding supports local governments in their efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and move forward on achieving their Charter goals.
