Chief Administrative Officer
Welcome to the City of Kamloops Web site. The City of Kamloops is a major employer with
over 570 employees engaged in services that range from firefighting to lifeguards, and
from museum curation to professional engineering.

Our organization structure consists of the Chief Administrative Officer appointed by City Council, and six Directors who head up the operational departments. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the Business and Client Services Division and the Corporate Programs and Projects Division report directly to the CAO.
Our staff are committed to this Mission Statement because we wish to create a community that has a high "Quality of Life" for our residents. As part of that challenge we have a collaborative strategy with our unionized staff, administration and City Council to become a Top 100 Organization in Canada. We have successfully achieved the Canadian Award of Excellence, Level IV by the National Quality Institute of Canada as part of our drive for improvement.
Our programs and service levels are guided by the Council Strategic Plan (2009 - 2011) which sets out Council's goals, objectives and priorities. Our annual Corporate Strategic Plan operationalizes Council's directives. Our primary goals include diversifying the economy, refining the Tournament Capital marketing strategy, ensuring that we are appropriately managing our infrastructure, maintaining a high quality of life for all of our citizens and pursuing the goal of becoming a Top 100 organization.
We are proud of the fact that we are 2009 national winners of the Communities in Bloom competition, that we are known as Canada's Tournament Capital, and that our sport and recreation facilities are ranked as some of the best in all of Canada for similar-sized cities. We believe that these amenities make us one of the best places in all of Canada to live.
Please feel free to email me if you have any questions about our organization.
Sincerely
Randy Diehl,
Chief Administrative Officer
