Marigold Mile
In late May, elementary students and teachers join councillors, City gardeners and CIB Committee members to plant thousands of marigolds on city boulevards.

City gardeners provide the plants from their own greenhouses and prepare the sites. Participating students learn how plants are grown and see first-hand the results of their work in the community. As one student said, "I just helped to make that very beautiful!"

KCIB works with the City Parks department and is extending the marigold beds throughout the city as sites and resources are available. The latest beds were developed at Columbia and Notre Dam.

Business - Council Planter Competition
Each spring a friendly rivalry between City gardeners, business owners and local government leaders including the Tk'emlups Band Council, form teams and meet to plan and design planters for this spirited competition.

Planters are a welcome addition and featured on downtown and North Shore sidewalks. Once the planters have filled out, in July, judging by local gardeners and CIB members commence to declare a winner.

KamClean Week
During one week each April we help Kamloops do its spring cleaning. This includes schoolyard clean up, a Council Clean Up where they choose an area to rid it of litter, a Downtown and North Shore business Clean up Challenge - where businesses on each side of the river devote a morning to wash sidewalks, walls and the surrounding areas of their businesses and Arbour Day.
