Day 90 Olympic Torch Relay Community Celebration

A FREE family event to celebrate the 2010 Olympic and Paralympics!

Kamloops Showcase

A Meeting of the Waters - A Kamloops Story
Tournament Capital Centre Field House

The Showcase will feature lively performances celebrating Kamloops' history through dance, music and theatre. See the stories of the First Nations heritage, fur trade, ranching, and the railway before transitioning to life in Kamloops today. A beautiful video backdrop will showcase photographs from past and present. Music created by local artist, Chris Stevens, composer of the original score for this outstanding local production.

Torch Relay Celebration
Tournament Capital Centre/Hillside Stadium

Join the festival-style family celebration and enjoy first class entertainment while anxiously awaiting the arrival of the official community torch bearer to light the celebration cauldron. Rock the night away with the Blues Jumpers and the Henry Small Band. Get your picture taken with the Olympic Torch. Record your personal message for our Canadian athletes. Watch heart-warming videos, see the cauldron be lit and finish the night with a spectacular fireworks display. You don't want to miss this truly Canadian event!

Park & Ride Service
Parking at the Tournament Capital Centre and surrounding lots is limited. It is STRONGLY suggested that you take advantage of the Park & Ride Service available. Dedicated parking spots will be available at the following locations with bus service directly to the Celebration site:

  • Sahali Centre Mall
  • Wal-Mart
  • Home Depot
  • Northills Shopping Mall

2010 Olympic Torch Relay Facts:


  • Over 100 days in length. Kamloops is Day 90.

  • Over 1,000 communities and places of interest where torchbearers will carry the Olympic Flame.


  • Nearly 200 celebrations hosted by communities in every province and territory.


  • Approximately 90 per cent of Canada's population will be within a one-hour drive of experiencing the Olympic Flame.


  • Over 45,000 kilometres will be travelled.


  • Extensive tour of the North including a planned visit to Alert, Nunavut, the northernmost permanently inhabited community in the world.


  • 12,000 people will have the honour of being an Olympic Torchbearer and will help carry the flame to Vancouver, a majority of whom will be selected through public programs.
